FRENCH ER VERBS SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE

GCSE FRENCH ER VERBS SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH -ER VERBS This kind of grammar activity is really popular with my students - they like to work independently, practising and revising how to conjugate French verbs, and it’s a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are150 conjugation questions across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, with an answer key booklet. I always give my students an answer key with this kind of workbook, as it facilitates independent learning, and they genuinely enjoy self and peer-assessment. Having an answer key also gives them an additional opportunity to engage with language and grammar. The format is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of French conjugation works, reflect on what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. They also use this page to note any new verbs they learn, which helps them build up a comprehensive verb vocabulary. It’s also a useful tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular activity with my students. 6-page answer key booklet Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, with a wide range of French language teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! GERMAN REFLEXIVE VERBS PRESENT TENSE

GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN REFLEXIVE VERBS PRESENT TENSE 25 high-frequency German reflexive verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for KS3 German KS4 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, with the German present tense, I encourage students to look for patterns across all the verbs, such as the singular pronouns, including the pronoun man form being identical, pointing out also that man is commonly used in German, often also meaning we, unlike the pronoun one in English. Students do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation, and I frequently see attempts such as ich bin mich waschen for I am getting washed or similarly***ich mache / tue mich erinnern*** for I do remember. The workbook comprises the following: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes & Next Steps template, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key Try this free sampler: GERMAN CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-conjugation-practice-example-12154187 This resource consists of non-editable files in a zipped format. PRIMARY FRENCH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES NOËL ARRIVE ! PRIMARY FRENCH CHRISTMAS NUMBERS 0-20 ADDITION & SUBTRACTION CARDS AND WHOLE-GROUP WARM-UP - GREAT FOR HIGH SCHOOL BEGINNER FRENCH TOO! These Primary French Numbers 0-20 Christmas games cards are great for practising numbers in French with a focus on addition and subtraction - they also offer a really useful opportunity for cross-curricular learning. They’re a real winner with my younger learners in lessons during the run-up to Christmas! The games can really help children to develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are lots of games they like to play, and I’ve described several of them in the resource file. I always do a quick warm-up and recap of numbers before we play any number games, and the simple forwards and backwards counting presentation is ideal for this. There are 72 calculations in total - 36 addition and 36 subtraction. The answer cards are marked with a plus or minus sign. This means that there are 144 cards in total - it’s quite a bit of prep, but do laminate them if you can, as they are far more user-friendly, and also last for many Christmastimes to come! PRIMARY FRENCH DISPLAY WORD WALL DAYS MONTHS SEASONS This Primary French word wall display creates an instant introduction to the days of the week and the months and seasons of the year in French, and really brightens up the learning environment too. I like to share essential vocab that we can use in everyday language with my young learners from the beginning of their learning. We use them not only when we’re introducing and practising days, months and seasons, but also for developing French language skills and awareness in general. We talk a lot about the similarities and differences in the different languages, such as the use of capital letters, and we look very closely for cognates too. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we do lots of guessing, spelling and vocab games for example. GERMAN PRESENT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN HIGH-FREQUENCY VERBS PRESENT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE This workbook focuses on 25 high-frequency verbs in the present tense. I’ve used these ‘quick conjugations’ for many years with my German students. My students find them to be a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practise the conjugations during the whole schools year, and they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how German conjugation ‘works’. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written German is accurate, and that their understanding of German across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully. PRIMARY SPANISH NUMBERS 0-10 WORD SEARCHES

PRIMARY SPANISH NUMBERS Los números cero - diez: diez sopas de letras! My Primary Spanish learners really enjoy learning their vocab with word searches. In terms of pedagogy, they really are a great way of providing students with opportunities not only to embed their vocab, but also to engage with the written word and spelling in Spanish. They are really easy to differentiate, ensuring that students have a series of progressive challenges. I use word searches regularly, and have a stock of them ready in folders - they’re ready to go for starters, refreshers, plenaries, fun-time fillers or activities for cover lessons, at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m introducing numbers in Spanish - ideal for high school beginner Spanish too. In this set, there are five Spanish to Spanish grids, with the Spanish words as prompts. Students then find them in Spanish in the grid. A great way of really consolidating vocab is to get students to complete the word list on the grid sheet too. There are also five English to Spanish grids. With these, the prompt words are in English, so students have to know the correct Spanish word in order to find it in the grid. There’s a word list to complete on these too. As the challenge increases, the words appear in an increasing number of different directions, and students can identify which directions they’re looking for by referring to the arrow key on each grid. I always give my students answer keys for this kind of activity - they help students develop more independence in their learning, give them an additional chance to engage with the language, and they really enjoy correcting their own and each others’ work! The word searches are in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading from left to right, and in my experience, this is really useful for young beginner Spanish learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with the written word in Spanish. Try this word search sampler, it’s free to download, and you’ll be able to see whether the word searches will work well with your learners: SPANISH FRUITS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/primary-spanish-fruits-word-search-freebie-12498663 Have a browse in my store for more Spanish word searches, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching & learning materials, with lots of freebies too! GCSE ITALIAN KS4 ITALIAN A LEVEL ITALIAN CONDITIONAL TENSE 25 ITALIAN -ARE VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they’re really versatile, and ideal for KS4 Italian students who are moving on to more complex texts tenses in Italian, and for KS5 Italian A Level Italian students as revision. The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. For example, students do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in their first language, and the language they are learning, and those with English as a first language frequently look for a word that is the equivalent of would, until they familiarise themselves with the fact that the notion of conditional is indicated in the verb ending. I see this a lot with the future tense too, and tend to introduce both tenses quite closely together. It’s also easy to confuse the future tense endings with the conditional tense endings, and targeted practice helps to address that really well. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian-English and English-Italian. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Italian across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. ADVANCED ITALIAN INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN CONJUGATION PRACTICE PLUPERFECT TENSE The workbook focuses on 25 high-frequency regular and irregular verbs Italian ARE verbs in the pluperfect tense (trapassato prossimo). There are three differentiated ‘quick conjugation’ challenges, each with 50 conjugation questions, so 150 conjugations in total. My students really enjoy learning and practicing their conjugation skills with these kinds of workbooks, and I’ve created a series of them that they can access whenever they feel they need to do a little extra work on their conjugation. There’s also a 6-page answer key workbook - for me, answer keys are an integral element of the learning process with this kind of activity - they certainly help students develop more independence in their learning (and they do enjoy correcting their own and particularly each others’ work!), and they give students further opportunity to engage with the learning focus. There are two backgrounds to choose from - winter blue or snowflake. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate for longevity - you’ll be able to enjoy your French Christmas word wall, as well as discuss similarities and differences in Christmas customs, for years to come! FRENCH VOCABULARY CHRISTMAS GAMES CARDS & QUIZ #2

KS3 FRENCH PRIMARY FRENCH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES 198 BEGINNER FRENCH & ENGLISH VOCABULARY CARDS, 99 BEGINNERS FRENCH WORDS & PHRASES WITH A 60-QUESTION MULTI-SKILL QUIZ I think that lessons in the run-up to Christmas provide the perfect opportunity to revisit language we’ve learnt earlier in the school year - my beginner French students really enjoy going back over and consolidating the vocab that they were introduced to right at the beginning of their learning. I created various sets of Christmas-themed vocab cards to get them feeling festive - it definitely works! I tend to have several sets all ready, and keep them in learning folders, so that students can choose which vocab groups they want to work on, though often, they like to work with the complete set, so it’s a good idea to have a couple of sets so that there are enough to go round. There’s vocabulary from the following word groups in this set: = Les animaux (indefinite article, all singular) = Les parties du corps (definite article, range of singular and plural) = Le temps = Les fruits et légumes (definite article) = Les matières scolaires (definite article) My students really like to learn independently, and I’ve described a range of games that they particularly enjoy. They love the competitive element of the whole-group quizzes, though the pdf version works really well too for small groups - and if you’re homeschooling. There are a lot of cards, which means some prep - if you can, laminate them, not only because they’re far better to learn with, but also because you’ll be able to use them over and over again for years! The quizzes are no-prep, and good to go - they’re non-editable, because of the Terms of Use of the clipart and fonts I’ve used, so have a quick look through before you play - there is a slide version, moving forward with a single click, and also a pdf version, which students can load onto tablets or similar devices for small-group work - that’s really useful for homeschooling too. There are 3 non-editable files in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. PRIMARY FRENCH VEGETABLES WORD WALL 25 SCRUMPTIOUS VEGETABLES IN FRENCH This word wall display creates an instant introduction to25 scrumptious vegetables in French, and really lend a great French look and feel to the learning environment too. I like to share essential vocab that we can use in everyday language with my young learners from the beginning of their learning. We use them not only when we’re introducing and practising vegetables (though I don’t actually select all 25 to learn in our main learning programme), but also for developing French language skills and awareness in general. We talk a lot about the similarities and differences in the different languages, such as the definite article and gender, singular and plural, looking closely for cognates, and of course talking about the kinds of vegetables we like or would like to try - artichoke is always a particular favourite! The vegetables featured are: = the artichoke = the asparagus = the aubergine/egg plant = the beetroot = the broccoli = the Brussel sprouts = the cabbage = the cauliflower = the carrots = the celery = the cucumbers = the garlic = the green beans = the leeks = the lettuce = the mushrooms = the onions = the peas = the red peppers = the yellow pepper = the potatoes = the spinach = the sweetcorn = the sweet potatoes = the tomato There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we do lots of guessing and spelling games, and vocab quizzes too for example. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave. SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 POSTERS FLASHCARDS

SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 FLASHCARDS POSTERS These Spanish numbers display posters / flashcards create an instant introduction to Numbers 0-31 in Spanish, also giving the learning environment fabulous Spanish look and feel. I’ve found that having new and high-frequency language displays also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of Spanish learners. The posters help students familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. They’re great as flashcards too, a traditional and really successful way of introducing and practising new language. The font is big enough for students to read in various locations in the classroom - I find this really important so that we can get the most out of any particular display - for example we use them for spelling and mental calculation games at certain points in the lesson. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or black wave. Laminate or print on card stock - I always do this with my displays - they hang a lot better, and I recycle them for many years.
